Q: Hai. How are you doing today?
Hey, there. Sunday morning always feels good.
Feli's drink
Q: What's your name, who are you and what do you do?
Most know me as Feli and that's the name I prefer too. My real name is Lisa but... I don't like it much. I have been on DA for 7 years and mostly am active in community related groups like dAWishingWell, ProjectComment or smaller ones like Group-KickStarters. I also do art here too though. I like to think of myself as a Jack of all trades but you can see I have "phases" with a certain focus on a specific medium like photography right now. In real life I am currently absolving my training as a forwarding agent. My company specifies on seafreight and airfreight handling for industrial companies.
Q: You mentioned being a jack of all trades but could you name what is your main art form? How about others?
Erm... My heart is in everything digital: Journal skins, digital drawings I would place photography second. Most of my traditional art is just sketches. I rarely do "complete artworks" in traditional media and if I do it's black and white. Sometimes I like to experiment with other art forms (literature, even artisan crafts) too.
Q: Is there a medium/category you really want to try and didn't have a chance to do so yet?
Watercolors... I love them but I just couldn't bring up the courage to try it yet. I am working on it though.
Q: Ok, let's move to DA. How long have you been on DA? And how did you decide to join?
I have been here for 7 years. I found it looking for fan art (you've heard that before, right? ). And since I have been interested in art and didn't have any art buddies in my environment I grew interested in the community too, learned from tutorials posted here and finally decided to make an account to talk to others about art and get feedback to improve. I have hesitated for a long time but I am so glad I finally brought up the courage.
Q: Do you run any projects on DA? Outside DA?
Oh, you did it now. I run a few projects through my groups like DA Starters (All-about-features), Group-KickStarters Admin Mentoring, my personal "Artist Spotlight" which is a monthly profile feature and I am a Core Gangsta for Angels without Wings. I run more projects through my other groups but those are the ones I run by myself or built a team to help me run it.
Q: Could you tell us what are your groups Group-KickStarters, All-about-features, APlaceToBegin are about and why people should join?
Sure~ All-about-features is the oldest of these three. I founded it when I started doing features and realized it was hard to get them seen and there was no realy active group for this. So yes, the group is all about features: you can submit features to the gallery or browse our Open Feature List if you want to get feature or want more suggestions for your up-coming feature. We run a few activities too and interviews are also allowed in our gallery.
Group-KickStarters is my newest group there to help inexperienced group admins with getting their group started. Joining us you will receive helpful group-related tutorials and articles. Our team offers advice through comments on the groups profile or group notes. You can also ask for more intense advising and get an on-site mentor. Both inknalcohol and KiwiCocktail are available at the moment. I am mentoring Adopt-A-Colour right now.
A while ago I took over APlaceToBegin from former founder Windklang (RockStocks is the original founder). This group is dedicated to navigate new deviants through their first months on DA. We will help you with any deviantart-related questions through group comments, group notes or in our chat room. Foreigners are welcome too. Our team is very international. We are currently building up possible activities and working on our mentoring project but if you ask for help, we will be there for you.
Q: Do you look up to any idols?
I think we should be carefull about idols. It is too easy to loose yourself. I don't have any artist I completely admire for their skills or something like that. What I do admire is spirit and commitment. A few great deviants I love to watch just "do their thing" are TeaPhotography, TheGalleryOfEve and Stygma. The full list is quite long but those three I have watched from the backgrounds for a long time and they just keep inspiring me with their selflessness and burning spirits. (I have a whole Wall of Awesome on my profile including a bit more deviants! )
Q: Let's have some fun questions! If you could give one piece of advice to the whole world, what would it be?
Life is hard enough as it is. We should strive to understand and support each other instead of hating what (or who) we do not bother to learn about.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
On DA it would be becoming an Angel without Wings. I know most would say "Seniority is that much better" but I was realy touched when I became an AWW. In real life I would say receiving an award for my afforts in our basketball team when I gratuated. I have not been in the spotlight but I still got the award for enabling my team mates and I was very happy to know it was appreciated this much by everyone.
Q: What is your favorite food?
Tough one. I am a sucker for most sweet things like my moms famous Strawberry Tiramisu!
Q: Do you like to cook yourself?
My job doesn't leave me too much time or energy to do that but sometimes I do love to cook, yes.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
It is very international. You can truly tell how the worldwide economy works with or against each other. Talking to my colleagues abroad you can learn a lot about their culture too and this is not only essential to do your job but highly interesting in my opinion.
Q: Which book is your favorite?
Definitely "Manual of the Warrior of the Light" by Paulo Coelho. It is very thoughtfull and inspiring. I own a very used-up copy.
Q: If you were given three wishes, what would you wish for?
1. For people to be more understanding and respectful;
2. For politicians to finally stop trying to screw us;
3. To be free to do whatever I want, whenever I want without any negative consequences.
Q: Any last words?
Do what makes you happy and always remember to take care of yourself. You don't do yourself or others a favor if you constantly put others first and finally break due to this. Finally... all that matters is that you can live with yourself at the end of the day. Keep it up, guys! (And thanks for the interview, Tahog )
